This feature provides the ability to inject a packet from the CPU to the pipeline as if that packet originated from a front-panel port. It allows users to quickly understand how certain packets flow through the pipeline. Packets that are injected from the host CPU are called masquerade or trace packets. The front-panel Ethernet port that is being spoofed is the masquerade port.
This visibility feature allows the user to trace a packet in the Ingress Pipeline which is useful in the following cases:
